For British Units such as :

Artillery Units, Royal Artillery, Hk & Singapore Royal Artillery, and the like :
Private (Pte) was a Gunner (Gnr)
Lance Corporal (LCpl) was a Lance Bombardier (LBdr)
Corporal was a Bombardier.

Guards Units had Lance Sergeants who were Sgt equivalent in any other Unit. The Guards always a cut above the rest.
